Problems with the Pt-15 could be because you're use to playing e-flat. You said you have played it for 19 years. That makes it tough to judge an F that you play for only a few minutes when you have played the e-flat long enough to be able to adjust to it's given quirks. If you'll notice, the less valves(altrnate fingerings) you can use in the low register, the better the blow, and even sometimes, the intonation and sound.
