As for my Eb exp. over shadowing a quick F tootle, not so. Why do most people (beginners) who haven't played tuba for long, have the same "quirk" problem on F tubas as I do?

Back 9 years ago, (the same time i played the Kurath) I played Steve Rosse's Melton 45s F. Same problem in the same register, yet on the Kurath, not a problem.

A tuba is a tuba to me. When I played the PT15, I simply used a single column of air. I took notice of what was happening and adjusted accordingly (adapting to the F horn). Yes, that register did get better as I went on.

From my brief experiences and reading like comments about "that" register here over the past 5 years, indicate to me that it's not just me who has trouble playing an F tuba. Even Steve Rosse mentioned it was a bitch to play there.
