Thanks for all the helpful advice. Like I said in my previous post, I currently play a Willson 2900. Maybe it has to do with the European shank, but I find the sound a bit constricting. This old Besson was much more open and warm sounding. Intonation is an issue with this horn, as it is with most model euphoniums. Yes, the Eb, E, and F above the staff are sharp, but maybe not as out of tune as my top line A on the Willson (flat). I only had the opportunity to play the horn for 30-45 minutes. It is being sent to me so my students and I can play it for a few weeks. I'll know more by then. My next question... how much is a fair price for one of these old Imperials? Keep in mind, it's in nearly pristine condition.
