There's a new recording by the Kronos String Quartet featuring Mexican music. Among a number of fine arrangements is one of Sensamaya' by Revueltas. Jennifer Culp sounds just fine on all the tuba solos (she plays them on cello, of course). This is really worth hearing. Another tune I like is the opening "El Sinaloense" or "the Man from Sinaloa. This sounds a lot like some of Revueltas' less well-known pieces, in which he aimed to capture some of the flavor of Mexican popular music. Great stuff!
