Dear Member of the New York Philharmonic Family,

As you may have heard, the Boards of Directors of the New York
Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall have begun discussions toward linking the two
institutions into a single musical performing arts institution.

It is our belief that such an association serves the best interests of
all parties, most especially you, our audience. Beyond the joy of
enjoying one of the world's great orchestras in one of the world's great
concert halls, you will benefit from the creation of a dynamic new
musical force of unmatched potential, dedicated to achieving the very highest
standards of artistic excellence and innovation to be experienced
anywhere in the world.

Even as we plan for our return to our historic home, we salute Lincoln
Center for its spectacular and pioneering achievements in the
performing arts, which have done so much to sustain and further New York's role
as the world's cultural capital.

As you may know the New York Philharmonic performed at Carnegie Hall
for 71 years, from 1891 until 1962. This decision, however, is not about
the past; it is about giving you a future of musical excellence that
reflects the greatness and spirit that is New York City. We will keep
you fully informed as our plans progress.

Thank you very much for your support of the New York Philharmonic.

Sincerely,

Paul B. Guenther Zarin Mehta
Chairman Executive Director
