I've spent most of my tuba playing life on a B&H Eb and would like a good all-rounder CC for ensembles. I'll keep the Eb for solo rep and some quintet probably.

I'm not much into slide-pulls and alternate fingerings. I have a pretty flexible tuba-sound in my head so am open to suggestions on all types of horn. No particular preference over piston/rotary etc. Ergonomically, so long as the tuba's able to sit on my lap/chair and the bell not be TOO far from my head, I don't mind. I'm c.5'11" & medium build.

What horns should I start by looking at with this in mind please?

Should I start with a MPhone186 and go from there? I'm wondering about the Rudolf Meinl 4345 (I think- 4/4 body + 3/4 valveset?), and can't discount the new MPhone 1291. Any further opinions??

Thank-you.
