What do some of you think about using a tuner to play in tune with a band or orchestra versus tuning by ear? Personally, I think tuning by ear is better because a human can relate to what the instrument should sound like with the ensemble, better than some mechanical machine. If one has a good sense to hear themselves in or out of tune and could adjust accordingly, I believe there is no better substitute.
All of this is to say that this is what works for me. I seldomly use a tuner at all and am able to blend in and sound pretty good with the ensembles that I'm with. Yet, there are some people that insists that using a tuner is the only best way to go. What do you all have to say?
