I've seen rotary valve euphoniums, and I've seen tenor tubas. They look and sound largely different. I didn't mean to imply that if a euphonium has rotary valves that it's a tenor tuba. I apologize if my post came across that way. It wasn't what I intended.

Some people have mistaken tenor tubas for small F tubas. They are more openly wrapped, have a larger bore, and a bigger bell. If I knew specs I would post them. But, they're fairly rare. Tommy Johnson has a silver Alex tenor tuba, and there is another Alex in LA, belonging to either Norm Pearson or Doug Tournquist. That one is bare brass.
