They have value, but not as core curriclum when basics are not covered first. There are post secondary schools "graduating" illiterates. Some schools are now adopting very basic exit tests that students are failing. When I say basic, I mean forming sentences, simple math, etc.

You don't share my vision of being grounded in reality? Well, what can you say to that!

I bet there would be more that we would agree on than disagree, but I can can't agree that one can envision and create what could be by ignoring the hard realities of life or by hiding out in some of the "curricula" in our state universities.
