...ridiculous. You don't need to be an AFM member to know that information. Salaries for major orchestras are not copyrighted. They show up individually in the International Musician, on orchestra websites, and even here every time there's an audition for a job in a particular orchestra. As far as services go, the big orchestras play in excess of 300 services a year (52 weeks-10 weeks vacation x avg. 8 services a week). Most of the orchestras on the list average 7-8 services a week. Also, most of the orchestras have Mondays off, allowing many players to fill that day with teaching.
Also, the information is not misleading, with a little common sense (Minneapolis is obviously a less expensive place to live than San Francisco) and a cost of living comparison calculator.
