Well, yes, if you use the same fingerings to read bass clef as if it were treble clef for trumpet, it works, but only if you add 3 sharps to the key signature. E.g., if the bass clef part's in the key of C major and you see the note one ledger line below the staff (concert E), you play it as if it were trumpet C# (123 or 24). If you have a bass clef part in Eb major, you'd play it reading it as if it were a treble clef trumpet part in written C major.

What's going to trip you up are accidentals and keys with lots of sharps (e.g., how do you "add 3 sharps" to a bass clef part that's written in F# major?). So, while this trick works as a stopgap, it's probably best to learn to read the bass clef part without translation to treble clef.
