I am in the process of rebuilding a rotary four valve set. The rotors are hollow three piece and have been seriously screwed up by some poorly skilled repairman. In the past when rebuilding the rotor, plating is the normal solution but in the case where excessive damage is to be dealt with, sleeving the rotor and cutting the sleeve to expose the ports after soldering is the best answer. Silver soldering is the proper approach. Soft solder can be used but only if the valve is to be completed with a copper build up and nickel plate as the final finish. I have performed this task on all types of rotary valve and if done well is a repair that is difficult to detect if not impossible. If you want more details, feel free to e-mail or give me a call.
