Sorry, but I must disagree with you. When I transfered to the largest University in my state, I wasn't offered any scholarship money. (I auditioned late) But by the Spring semester I was the principal euphonium in the top wind ensemble. Not only that, but when I was offered a scholarship it was only $400. (I was never in marching band, wouldn't do it, and the scholarship was just for playing in the top wind ensemble) I graduated from that University and am now a graduate student. I am not a Graduate Assistant. I was told there would not be a tuba/euphonium graduate assistantship. That's okay, I am paying for it in loans. I am still the best euphonium player at this university and every music faculty player who hears me play always tells me to audition for a military band because I play too well. That's what I plan to do and I think your theory is incorrect.
