Hated my 20J, Blasphemy?

I think I had my fill of staying silent after reading yet another warm fuzzy remembrance from someone about their old Conn Recording Bass. I know it may be "blasphemy" to some of youze, but did ANYone else hate these instruments when you were growing up? What I remember was absolutely hating the damn thing I had in high school, and wishing I could afford a real tuba (and not a bass horn that was wrapped backward.) Anyone else dare discuss similar experiences?
