cimbasso = brass bass
tuba = brass bass
Where is the definitive proof that the cockamamie latter 20th century cimbasso (of which very very few old examples exist) was used 100% of the time (or any of the time) in Verdi's time. Further, if we are to use this, why not always use ophicleides on Mendelsohn/Berlioz, always use cat-gut strings on all of the fiddles, and always tune to A=435 or lower?
