Regarding your comment about a tuba sounding like a euphonium, is it that way or the other way around? I'm irritated by how too many euphonium players try to get too dark a sound; to my ears they sound more like tuba players (albeit with a small tuba) than what I think a euphonium should sound like.
It's six of one, half dozen of the other I suppose.
