I have some questions about Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique in the last movement from figure 84 to the end. I was wondering how many of you (at 5 bars before 85 and 86 to the end) triple tongue these passages as opposed to single tonguing them. It seems as though many that I have talked with about this section triple tongue but I am skeptical about the way this projects to the audience and blends with the trombones. Do the trombones typically single tounge this taking in to account that some conductors love to blaze the tempo at the end? And also, for those of you triple tonguers, do you use tu-ka-tu for this section? I ask this because it sometimes sounds as if many professional sections are single tonguing it, but that may be because they have mastered the triple tongue and can separate the syllables well. Thank you for any ideas, opinions, or comments, Scott C
